Edison Senior Meal Site Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The Nutrition Program for the Elderly senior meal program offered at the Edison Senior Center, 2963 Woodbridge Avenue is celebrating its 10-year anniversary and partnership with Edison Township.

One of eight sites throughout Middlesex County, the Edison site has served 69,500 congregate meals and provided 283,720 home delivered meals over this ten year period. 

Offered through the Middlesex County Office on Aging and Disabled Services, the senior meal program provides county residents 60 years of age and older meals-on-wheels and congregate dining programs.

The program is funded in part by a federal grant and relies on client donations for support. Meals which are provided Monday through Friday has a varied menu of tasty entrees and includes both a daily vegetarian menu and accommodations for a specialized diet for diabetics. The recommended fair share contribution is $2.25 for congregate meals.

Home delivered meals are available for isolated homebound seniors who have no formal or informal caregiver and are unable to attend a congregate meal program. The recommended fair share contribution is $2.75 for home-delivered meals.
