ELIZABETH, NJ – A Union County Grand Jury indicted Edison resident Jordan Robinson, 22, on murder charges in connection with a Plainfield shooting spree that left one person dead and two injured last year, officials said Friday.
In a press release from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday afternoon, officials said Robinson will stand trial on five counts including first degree murder, two second degree weapons offenses and two counts of third degree aggravated assault following a Nov. 6, 2015 shooting on Evona Avenue in Plainfield’s West End.
According to the release, officers rushed to the scene of the reported shooting in the 300 block of Evona Avenue at 2:15 p.m. and found three people suffering gunshot wounds.
The victims consisted of resident Anthony Bowles, 24, an unidentified 33-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl, police said.
Emergency crews rushed Bowles to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The woman and young girl were taken to other area hospitals for treatment, according to police.
An intensive joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and Edison Police Department resulted in Robinson being identified as a suspect in the case, police said.
He was arrested in Matawan on Nov. 19, 2015, and lodged in Union County Jail on $1.5 million bail, according to police.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information to contact Homicide Task Force Sgt. Joe Vendas at 908-358-3048 or Detective Sofia Santos at 908-577-4256.
The Union County Crime Stoppers also are continuing to offer a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case; tips can be given anonymously by phone at 908-654-TIPS (8477), via text message by texting “UCTIP” plus a message to 274637 (CRIMES), or online at www.uctip.org.
