EDISON, NJ -   A National Night Out event, hosted by Edison Township, is scheduled for  6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 outside the Edison Municipal Complex and at the Papaianni Park softball field.   On its website, the National Association of Town Watch describes the  event as “an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.”

The Edison program will feature an outdoor movie, exhibits and demonstrations by the Police and Fire Departments; entertainment and information booths sponsored by the Recreation and Health Departments, the town’s Clean Communities Program, various civic groups and local businesses. Events will include, free food, demos, games, and an outdoor movie at dusk on the softball field

“Our National Night Out event is a terrific opportunity for people and families to have fun, to meet some of our police officers, firefighters and employees, and learn more about the host of services that Edison has to offer,” Mayor Thomas Lankey said in a release.
