As of January 1st, over 12,000 Edison residents are now serviced by the Edison Water Utility, a newly created municipal ran water utility.
The Edison Water Utility is currently under the supervision of Robert J. Smith and has been planning for their January 1st takeover of the existing systems for several months. The Utility has already hired more than 15 workers for various positions and has been ready to be operational.
Anthony De Amorin, a member of the Water Utility Advisory Committee which helped prepare the town for the Edison Water Utility, told TapInto:
"As a member of the Water Utility Advisory Committee, I could not be happier with how the administration and committee worked together successfully. Zero rate increases and the senior rate freeze still in place is a great way to get started. It is now up to the Town Council, the Administration, and Director Bob Smith to work together to continue this progress. I wish them all the best of luck."
Affected residents have gotten several reminders and notices through the mail and telephone if their provider has changed.
The Edison Water Utility's website is https://www.edisonwaterutility.org/. Residents can pay bills, obtain information for rate freezes, employment, water quality, and more through the Edison Water Utility website.
