EDISON, NJ – A small fire Friday morning in the Washington Elementary School at 153 Winthrop Road in Edison brought back memories of another school fire over a year ago.

Multiple fire trucks and emergency service vehicles responded to the fire at the school. It was a little over a year ago that James Monroe Elementary School burned to the ground.

Firefighters initially had trouble finding the source of the fire, which apparently was in the boys’ bathroom possibly due to an electrical problem.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The Middlesex County Arson Task Force was requested.
