WORCESTER, MA- The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Edison High School alum Joe Kim (EHS Class of 2015), has earned a spot on the 2018 Assumption College Football team. Mr. Kim is competing during the Greyhounds' fall season. Following a third straight NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in 2017, the Assumption football team was picked first in the 2018 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Poll and ranked 20th in the national DII preseason poll. Last season, the Greyhounds went 11-2 and were the NE10 Champions.

During his time in Edison, Mr. Kim was First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Division, First Team All-County and First Team All-Area.  He was also Third Team Group 5 All-State and NJ Super 100 All-State.  Had 30 catches, 585 receiving yards, and six touchdowns his senior year, to go along with 65 tackles, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. Mr. Kim was also a member of the National Honor Society.

In 2017,  Mr. Kim was named NE10 Second Team All-Conference as well as All-Area Second Team by the Worcester Area Football Association. He Appeared in 13 games, making 73 total tackles,  forced two fumbles, and intercepted one pass, returning it for a touchdown.

"Throughout preseason camp, the upperclassmen set the tone with great leadership, energy, enthusiasm, and intensity in practice; we all have high expectations of each other" said Assumption College’s new head coach Andy McKenzie. "Furthermore, as the school year gets started, our team is also preparing to be the best student-athletes possible, and we will be engaged and make a positive contribution to the campus community as a whole."
