EDISON, NJ - Freshman Carolina Fernandez scored the game winning goal for the Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team. Fernandez broke a 1-1 tie with a little under two minutes left in regulation time. The win against Wardlaw-Hartridge in Edison is the Chargers fourth straight victory since dropping their season opener to South Brunswick.

It was Fernandez's first game of the young season, missing the first four outings due to a concussion. Danielle Wittig also scored a goal for Spotswood in the tightly fought contest while Melanie Hager and Erin Thuring added assists. Lizzie Vignuolo made four saves in net for the Chargers.

Carlin Schildge scored the lone goal for Wardlaw-Hartridge and Lacey Gress made six saves.

The Chargers next test will be against Mother Seton on Friday, September 18. Game time is 4 p.m. and will take place at home.
