CLARK, NJ --  Caroline Morgan and Christina Layden each scored, and goalie Ashia Ellison had a strong game to fuel the Union Catholic girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Johnson on Saturday.

Morgan gave UC a 1-0 halftime lead when she scored from 25 yards out. Layden made it 2-0 when she scored on a penalty kick in the second half after a hand ball was called in the box. 

Ellison, a senior who was making her season debut in goal,came up with nine saves to make the lead hold up as UC improved to 2-3. Johnson fell to 3-1-1.

The Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday vs. Kent Place at home.
