Help is on the Way: Somerville Elks Seek Donations for Texas Flood Victims


SOMERVILLE, NJ  - The Somerville Elks Lodge #1068 will collect donations that will be shipped to Texas later this month to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey clean up and put their lives back together.

The "Hope for Texas" collection begins Tuesday, Sept. 5 and will run through Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Elks Lodge, 375 Union Ave., Bridgewater. Donations will be accepted Monday-Saturday from 8-11 a.m. and 2-8 p.m. Sunday hours are 2-5 p.m.

The Elks Disaster Relief Fund has arranged for transportation of the donations to Texas.

The Elks recommend purchase of gift cards from "Big Box" stores that will allow recipients to purchase what they need.

For those who prefer to purchase items to donate, the list includes socks, underwear, t-shirts, diapers, moist wipes, cleaning supplies, bleach and gloves.
