SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Joe DiVita’s Steel Drum Duo will be playing this Saturday January 18th  at KC’s Korner located at 100 Oak Tree Avenue in South Plainfield. Ten percent of all sales between 7:00pm and 10:00pm on January 18th will go to help fund the South Plainfield Music Boosters. 

“This past weekend we had Caribbean type weather, and I figured why not get some steel drums in here for a good cause,” said KC’s owner Walter Kurilew.

According to the music boosters the Steel Drum music Duo plays music of all types and the funds are put to excellent use.

“The music boosters raise funds annually for scholarships, the end of year banquet as well as financially assisting many facets of the SPHS Music department,” said SPHS Music Boosters Recording Secretary Jay Buchanan . “This fundraiser will assist these efforts.”

According to SPHS Music Boosters’ President William Co the Music Boosters’ banquet recognizes the outstanding students of the music program and hands out scholarships to deserving music seniors. This Saturday’s Steel Drum Duo will go towards funding this effort.

“I’m really excited about Saturday Night Steel Drums,” said Kurilew. “We love our NFL Sunday’s here at KC’s, but there is nothing more important to me than helping the youth of South Plainfield. My daughter has always been heavily involved in music and the arts, and to be able to give back to the music community is really special.”
