Lady Hawks Defeat Woodbridge in Softball, Advance in GMC Tournament


EDISON, NJ - Kayla Smith led the game off with a single to right field. Smith advanced to second on a sacrifice fly by Gabby Young. On a wild pitch by Woodbridge pitcher Carly Kjersgaard, Smith reached third Rebecca DiSerio hit a line drive single up the middle scoring Smith. The 1st inning ended with J.P. Stevens 1 up.

In the second inning, Ashley Lombardi led off with a single between the third baseman and the shortstop. On a sacrifice bunt by Brianna Zederbaum, Lombardi moved over to second later scored on an error. Amanda Leary scored on a sacrifice fly to leftfield by Smith ending the inning with Hawks leading 3-0.

Julie Siecinski led the third inning off with a double laced to left center field. After tagging up to third on a ball to right, she scored on Ashley Lombardi's RBI single to right center. The 3rd inning ended with 4-0, Hawks.

The Barrons rallied in the 5th inning scoring their only three runs in the 5th inning when after two quick outs, Brooke Timinski reached base on an error. Then Francesca Muccilli followed with a single just over the reach of the Hawks 2nd baseman. With two on and two out, Justine Stefara hit a home run down the left field line.

Brianna Zederbaum scored JP's insurance run when after reaching on an error, Smith drove her in with a bloop to left.

The Lady Hawks play Thursday against Sayerville

J.P. Stevens is now 16-5 for the season
