EDISON, NJ - Simon’s Menlo Park Mall announced Thursday two new retailers that will soon be joining its impressive lineup. Havana Central, a popular Cuban-themed restaurant with roots in NYC will further expand its operations with its first location in New Jersey and adidas will open a store offering a full assortment of sporting goods equipment and apparel. Both are expecting to be operating by late July.
In the meantime, a major renovation project announced in January has begun, an undertaking that will touch a significant portion of the interior and exterior of the property and include a complete transformation of the existing food area into a spectacular new Dining Pavilion. The renovation is expected to be completed in November with all work performed to minimize customer inconvenience during the mall’s regular operating hours.
“We are in the midst of some exciting times here at Menlo Park Mall,” said John Westbrook, general manager. “The addition of Havana Central and adidas reflect our ongoing commitment to bringing in dynamic new retailers for our shoppers. These offerings, along with the enhancements we are making will further solidify Menlo Park Mall as one of central New Jersey’s premier destinations for shopping, dining and entertainment.”
Havana Central evokes the 1950’s golden era of Cuba, capturing Havana’s heyday as the world’s most tantalizing playground through its festive ambiance, vibrant décor and mouth-watering food. Traditional dishes like Vaca Frita, Ropa Vieja and Arroz con Pollo are an unmistakable celebration of Cuban cuisine. The cocktail list includes signature sips like Mojitos and Sangrias; its wine list is filled with Latin American favorites.
For adidas, what was started by its founder, Adi Dassler, in a small town in Bavaria, Germany in 1924, has grown to become a global leader in the sporting goods industry. The Menlo Park Mall store, located on the first level across from The Disney Store near Center Court will carry a broad portfolio of footwear, apparel and hardware for sport and lifestyle around the core brands adidas, Reebok, TaylorMade and Rockport. These brands complement each other in a unique way to help athletes perform better, play better and feel better. Every day. All over the world.
“We are pleased to welcome these two new stores to our center and look forward to experiencing both of them when they open this summer,” said Suzy Lichter, area director of marketing and business development for Menlo Park Mall.
According to Westbrook, the start of the renovation project will concentrate on updating the interior facade in the main concourse near Macy’s. This will be followed with similar work along the concourse of the mall passing in front of tenant spaces. In late May and June, work will begin on replacing much of the existing mall flooring on the lower level and installing new carpeting and flooring on level two. Work on the Dining Pavilion is expected to commence in June as well.
“Over the coming months, visitors will notice many changes taking place to the mall as the project gets into full swing,” Westbrook said. “These enhancements will create a more contemporary look for the center along with additional upgrades and amenities that will better fulfill the needs of our customers and visitors.”
