EDISON,NJ - On August 19, 2018, the United Chinese Americans Association of New Jersey (UCAA-NJ)  will be hosting its 2018 Summer Picnic Friendship Event. The picnic will take place at Grove 1 in Edison Roosevelt Park beginning at 10:30 AM.  It will “present the diversity of our community, promote exchanges and mutual assistance among various businesses and cultural groups” according to Margaret Lam, the organization’s Chair and Founder.

UCAA-NJ was founded in May 2018, and this is the second year the picnic is being organized. Last year’s picnic was also held in Edison and attracted approximately 1,000 people.  Lam described the UCAA-NJ as an umbrella organization that counts over 100 community organizations as members, including the Edison based Huaxia Chinese School. The New Jersey Chinese Festival will also be participating in the Summer Picnic.  Lam said “the event will have many activities and many professional and amateur performances, including dancing, singing and other shows.”

“The aim of the organization is to promote Chinese culture, create networking opportunities, and showcase our community” said Ms. Lam.
