SOMERSET, NJ - Families from Somerset, Middlesex, Hunterdon, and Union Counties braved the snowy landscape to attend the winter open house at Oak Crest Day Camp in Somerset on Saturday, February 22.

On a cold but sunny day, parents and their children came out to get a peek at what the kids 2015 summer will be like, and they all got to see what a summer camp looks like in the heart of winter.

Typically kids are used to standing back from the heat of a summer campfire, however on this day they huddled close to the fire for some warmth as they roasted marshmallows and made S’mores.

After touring the campground, and leaving popcorn trails in the snow, kids and parents alike started the clock in their heads counting down the days until the final school bell will ring.

One parent, who was with their kids looking at the camp for a summer session was thrilled with what they saw, commenting, "You had me at the S'mores. This place is amazing. Do you have a program for adults?”

Oak Crest Camp’s Philosophy is “To create an experience for our families so meaningful, that it makes campers for life.”

Oak Crest’s summer program is intentionally designed to create opportunities for success, resulting in a summer experience for children that will yield a more confident, independent and well-rounded human being, just for having been at camp.

Another visiting parent was asked their thoughts on the open house experience and the people they met. They stated, “All of the staff members are knowledgeable and genuine. I have no reservations sending my son here."
