PISCATAWAY, NJ – One person was killed and six others injured in a 2-car accident late Sunday afternoon near the Possumtown Road railroad trestle, according to Piscataway police officials.
The crash happened at about 4:51 p.m. when a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro and a 2015 Toyota Sienna mini-van collided with each other on Possumtown Road just north of Circle Drive North, said police.
The driver of the Camaro, a 48-year old man from Middlesex Borough whose name was withheld by the police was pronounced dead at the scene. His male passenger was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, police said.
The male driver of the Toyota and four passengers were taken to the same hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries and later released. Police officials did not give their names, ages or addresses.
Possumtown Road was closed to traffic in both directions between Circle Drive North and Birch Run Drive for several hours during the accident investigation and cleanup.
