SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Police charged a Kentucky man with driving under the influence of heroin after he passed out at the wheel on Route 130 Friday, officials said.

According to police, Raymond Tucker, 50, of Lexington, Kentucky, was driving his white pickup truck with a passenger on Route 130 Friday afternoon when he slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle at 2:10 p.m., police said.

The passenger was able to jump over him and regain control of the truck, steering it to the shoulder of the highway near Melrich Road, police said.

The friend called 911 and police officers Christopher Magee-Vanderveen and Dan Rodriguez responded and revived Tucker with the drug Narcan, used in the case of heroin overdoses.

The officers reportedly found the man slumped over in his white pickup truck and not breathing.

They learned that Tucker had used heroin, and immediately administered Narcan and provided CPR, police said.

After several minutes, Tucker regained a pulse and stated breathing again.

Tucker declined treatment after evaluation by EMS workers, police said.

Tucker was charged with driving under the influence, processed, and released to a friend, police said.
