EDISON, NJ - It was a long night on the court for the Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team on Friday. Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division leading St. Thomas Aquinas High School defeated the Chargers 106-46. St. Thomas, who was formerly known as Bishop Ahr High School, had a 45-22 lead at the halftime break and outscored the Chargers 49-24 in the final two quarters.
St. Thomas had five players put up double digits on the scoreboard. Quadry Adams led all scoring with 20 points for the Trojans. Tristian Jeffries netted 19 and Kyree Hnery added 13. Jaquan Harris dropped 11 points and Derrick Grant earned the double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Jack Welsh was Spotswood's top scorer with 13 points. Welsh has 176 points in 14 games for Spotswood this season. Casey Cumiskey scored eight points for Spotswood and James Clarke added seven. Jack Andrulewich chipped in five.
Spotswood travels to Wardlaw-Hartridge High School on Saturday to take on the Rams. Game time is 11:30 a.m. Today is the first meeting between the two teams this season. Wardlaw-Hartridge has an overall record of 9-4.
