Spotswood Girls Soccer Comes Back To Defeat Wardlaw-Hartridge

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team defeated Wardlaw-Hartridge High School on Wednesday, October 11, 3-2 to take over second place in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division. The Rams held a 2-1 halftime lead thanks to two goals by Bella Wysocki. Mandee Mendez netted one in the first half on a pass from Amber Meagher for the Chargers.

Carolina Fernandez knotted the game at two in the second half on a pass Meagher, giving the junior two assists on the day. Fellow junior Alexa Reilly would score the game-winner for Spotswood after burying a pass from Jamie Zavala.

Julia Masucci made 11 saves for Spotswood in the win while her counterpart, Hannah Yates made nine stops. Wardlaw-Hartridge's Destiny Ingram and Mia Reyes each assisted on one of Wysocki's goals.

Their win improves the Chargers' overall record on the season to 7-3-2. It also moved them from third place in the conference to second behind Metuchen High School, which remains undefeated in conference play. Spotswood and Wardlaw-Hartridge tied their previous meeting, 1-1.
