Students Engaged by Visit from Middlesex County College Admissions Counselor

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Students at Nuview Academy Annex (NAA) learned a great deal about Middlesex County College and its support services for students with special needs, as a result of a visit from Admissions Counselor Desiree Brower.

In addition to sharing a wide range of information about the college, Ms. Brower facilitated a productive discussion with students regarding their future goals.

“The students were highly engaged and welcomed the opportunity to ask questions regarding their goals after high school,” said NAA’s Amanda Olexion, LSW Therapist.

Middlesex County College offers a  variety of support services for students with disabilities including  adaptive testing services, note taker support, sign language interpreters, adaptive technology,  books on tape, and other accommodations based on a student’s needs.

The NAA is part of the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey, which operates six schools with services for students ages 3-21 with autism,multiple disabilities, and at-risk behaviors, in addition to providing shared services to special education students statewide. The largest Educational Services Commission in New Jersey, the ESCNJ coordinates transportation services for nearly 14,000 students across the state, and manages a 1,100 member Co-op Pricing System, the largest cooperative buying program in New Jersey.
