Traffic Nightmare Friday Morning in Edison

EDISON, NJ - A fatal accident early Friday morning has snarled traffic on several highways in the township.

At least three vehicles caught fire, and at least two deaths have been confirmed, after a multiple-vehicle crash near the merger of Route 440 and I-287 in Woodbridge, according to Breaking News Network and broadcast traffic reports.

Updated media reports have stated that six were injured in the collision, in addition to the two deceased.

The accident has also affected rush hour traffic on nearby highways, including Route 1, the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike on the last Friday before Christmas weekend. The crash occurred a little after 6 a.m. and is being investigated by New Jersey State Police.

Travelers on any of the many highways in and around Woodbridge and Edison are advised to allow plenty of extra time to reach their destination Friday morning.
