EDISON, NJ - On Thursday, Jan. 11, Earth Science students from The Wardlaw+Hartridge School in Edison examined rocks and the processes that form them at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

Students toured the museum exploring a range of interests including human origins, meteorites and ocean diversity, and measured how much they would weigh on various planetary bodies. Eighth graders were treated to a behind-the-scenes visit with ornithology specialists Tom Trombone and Paul Sweet. They learned the relevance of the museum’s large collection of bird skins for researchers.

“This bird is as old as our school,” Aarush Dharayan of Edison remarked when Sweet showed students a bird collected in 1882, the year his school was founded.
