EDISON, NJ - On Friday, January 31, students in Mrs. Jean Castellano’s Introduction to World Religion classes and members of the Global Scholars Program visited the New Jersey Buddhist Cultural Center in South Plainfield to learn about the Buddhist religion and the Lunar New Year celebration. Mrs. Castellano was joined by chaperones Mrs. Nicole Nolan, Director of Global Scholars and Community Outreach, and Mr. Russell Althouse, Director of the Global Experience.

Students participated in Lunar New Year traditions to bring good luck and prosperity in the coming year, 2020 is the year of the rat. Students were given special Lunar New Year scrolls and ornaments to commemorate the celebration. The temple also had a special display of dolls from around the world, representing many countries, cultures and traditions.  The visit was a treat for all and everyone returned with feelings of positivity and peace for the new year.
