Edison, NJ - Every year, the Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council recognizes local women for their outstanding service in their professions who have demonstrated leadership within their community, at the annual Tribute to Women Awards Luncheon.
This year, two women with ties to Edison will be among the six honorees who the association said have exemplified outstanding support to their community and have proven to be outstanding role models to youth in Middlesex County.
Seema Jagtiani and Christine D’Agostino, will join Renee DiMarzio, Deborah Lowry Morgan, Councilwoman Rebecca Escobar and Cuqui Rivera as this year’s honorees.
The Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council is committed to helping youth and the fight against child abuse, said the organization in a press release. This year’s recipients are citizens who live the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives stated the organization. They will be honored on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 11:00 am at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison.
Seema Jagtiani is President of Farmers Insurance Agency, a very successful insurance company from the west coast to the Northeast. She has been a Director on the Edison Chamber of Commerce Board since the last 4 years and was nominated as the President of SACO (South Asian Community Outreach) in 2018. Seema is one of the Founding members of Shraddha Foundation, an organization created to help the children and widows of Fallen Soldiers of Indian Defense Forces of below Hawaldar level. Their goal is to provide education to the children up to the age of 18 and give career counselling to the widow.
Christine D’Agostino is the Vice President of operations of the Carpenter Contractor Trust (CCT), a labor-management cooperative that serves as the marketing arm for The Keystone + Mountain + Lakes Regional Council of Carpenters (KML) and many of its union contractors. Her volunteer commitments are across a broad range of contributions in New Jersey including: the Middlesex County Improvement Authority – Commissioner; Literacy NJ – Board of Trustees President; BW NICE (Business Networking, Education & Domestic Violence Awareness) Middlesex County, Vice President; Women in Business, Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce; Edison Chamber of Commerce, Board member; Woodbridge Chamber of Commerce; Sisters in the Brotherhood.
Through the Tribute to Women Awards Luncheon, funds will be raised to support the award-winning child abuse prevention programs offered to the community at large by the Boy Scouts of America. The luncheon will include a reception with a silent auction, a live scholarship auction that will raise funds for Scouting in the under-served areas of Middlesex County, and featured speakers that will provide more information about the Boy Scouts of America’s youth protection training programs.
The 2019 returning luncheon chair is Christina Youngblood and co-chair is Tracey O’Reggio Clark. The 2019 luncheon committee includes: Deborah S. Alexander, Ed.D, Joseph Gonnella Lina Llona, Jean McDonnell, Yesenia Medina-Hernandez, Meena Murthy, Linda Van Derveer, Jennifer Volz, and Patricia Whitley-Williams.
