Gary Sondermeyer is one of the most knowledgeable people in the field of recycling and food waste reduction. He is  currently VP of Operations for Bayshore Recycling (where Edison Township brings its recycling). He spent 30 years at the NJ Department of Environmental Protection where he was Chief of Staff, served as Chairman of the Board of the NJ Water Supply Authority, liaison member of the NJ Corporation for Advanced Technology, liaison to the Commerce and Economic Growth Commission, and Coordinator of NJ's homeland security planning efforts for the chemical, nuclear, wastewater and biotechnology sectors. As Assistant Commissioner he managed  the permitting programs for Air Pollution Control, Water Quality, Solid and Hazardous Waste, Radiation Protection, and Pollution Prevention. Gary also served as Director of the Solid Waste and Recycling Program.  He is currently engaged in a variety of non-profit efforts to advance environmental protection and sustainability including Vice Chair of Sustainable Jersey and Co-Chair of the Woodbridge Township Green Team.

Central Jersey Jazz Festival Features 14 Hours of Music in Somerville, New Brunswick, Flemington

SOMERVILLE, NJ – The lineup of seasoned musicians is set for 14 hours of non-stop sophisticated jazz that will draw thousands  to the three-day Central Jersey Jazz Festival Sept. 13-15.

All performances are outdoors beginning in Flemington Sept. 13, 6-10 p.m.; New Brunswick Sept. 14, 1-6 p.m. and conclude in Somerville Sept. 15, 1-6 p.m.

Concerts will be performed rain or shine.

Fear and Anger Over Lead Water Crisis Drives Newark Residents to Get Tested

NEWARK, NJ - Newark residents converged on University Hospital in Newark to get free lead screenings, united by dread of the health effects of lead amid a water contamination crisis that has no end in sight.
