METUCHEN, NJ - The Metuchen Arts Council invites the public to hear the Trio Metaphora in a chamber music concert featuring the work of Spanish and Latin American composers on Sunday, March 15th,  at the historic Old Franklin Schoolhouse in Metuchen.

For their Metuchen debut, the Trio will perform selections from the works of Isaac Albeniz (Spain); Manuel Ponce (Mexico); Zequinha de Abreu (Rio de Janeiro); and Astor Piazzolla (Buenos Aires).

Trio Metaphora is a woodwind group (two clarinets and bassoon) that performs music coming from  a wide range of sources and styles: instrumental trios by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and other classical composers, opera arias and songs by Mozart, Verdi, and others, tangos and dance music from Vienna, Spain and Latin America, and American, Russian, Spanish and Mexican folk songs.  The name of the trio was chosen because much of the music the trio performs was originally composed for other combinations of instruments (and voices).  Many of the arrangements are by the trio's bassoonist, Roe Goodman.  Members of Trio also include Mark D. Sloss on clarinet, Lindsey Malko on clarinet.
