WATCHUNG, NJ - Operation Shoebox New Jersey volunteers traveled to Mount St. Mary's Academy on Wednesday, April 10 loaded with donated supplies to help students at the all-girls' high school pack 300 care packages during MSM's Core Values Service Day.

It is the seventh straight year that OPSHBXNJ has worked with MSM.

Volunteers arrived at 9 a.m., and with the girls' help were set up within an hour and finished packing the final box by 11:15 a.m.

Metuchen Diocese Bishop James F. Checchio stopped in to visit, escorted by MSM Campus Minister Isabel Gachko, who has coordinated the event since its inception.

OPSHBX NJ, based in Somerset County, was founded in 2005 and since that time has shipped 155,000 care packages to US troops deployed around the world. The non-profit organization works with schools, veterans' organizations, fraternal groups, religious organizations, Scouts and other groups throughout the year collecting donations and packing between 12,000-15,000 care packages annually.
