Edison, NJ – The YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge and South Amboy will be hosting its annual Janice Garbolino Memorial 5K. The race, which is Super Hero themed, will take place at Lakeview School, located at 10 Oak Drive in Edison, on September 14. Onsite registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., and post-race awards at 9:30 a.m.
Each year walkers and runners participate in a 5K event, in memory of Janice Garbolino, the former Health & Wellness Director of the Metuchen Branch YMCA, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2002.
The Janice Garbolino Memorial 5K supports the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge, and South Amboy in providing a free exercise program for cancer survivors called LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA. LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA assists those who are living with, through, or beyond cancer to strengthen their bodies, minds, and spirits.
“Janice would be pleased and proud of the work the YMCA is undertaking through this life-changing program, with more than 400 people having come through our program since 2010, and 66,000 people having graduated from the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA nationwide,” said event organizers.
