EDISON, NJ – On Thursday, Mayor Thomas Lankey announced that the township’s Fire Prevention Bureau has received a $1,642 grant from FM Global, one of the world’s largest private commercial property insurers.

Fire Marshal Timothy Langan said the grant will pay for a new state-of-the-art laptop computer to help monitor commercial and residential fire inspections in the 32-square-mile community.

“Every grant dollar from public or private sources that Edison Township receives is one less dollar that our taxpayers must pay to support municipal services,” Mayor Lankey said. “This grant is very welcome.”

Rhode Island-based FM Global, a mutual insurance firm, has contributed millions of dollars worth of fire prevention grants to municipal fire departments and fire prevention organizations around the globe and throughout the U.S., including a significant number of New Jersey-based towns and organizations.
