METUCHEN, NJ — On Tuesday, Postmaster Maria Martinez announced a special pictorial postmark will be offered at the 10th Annual Metuchen Rescue Squad Benefit Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Show on August 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Metuchen High School, located at 400 Grove Avenue.
The Postal Service offers pictorial postmarks as a community service to commemorate local events celebrated in communities throughout the nation.
In addition to the postmark, a special postal booth at the show will also be offering the Postal Service’s First Responders Forever stamp that was issued in 2018 to honor emergency personnel.
According to their website, the Metuchen First Aid Squad’s mission is to provide high quality emergency medical care and transport for the residents and visitors of Metuchen. Their volunteer members have been proudly offering this free service to the community since 1948.
If unable to get to The 10th Annual Metuchen Rescue Squad Benefit Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Show on August 11, Postmaster Martinez recommends obtaining the special postmark by mail order request. Customers can affix stamps to an envelope or postcard, address the envelopes or postcards to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelopes or postcards in larger envelopes and address them to:
Rescue Squad Benefit Postmark
360 Main Street
Metuchen, NJ 08840-9998
Customers can also send stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the pictorial postmark, the Postal Service returns the items (with or without addresses) under addressed protective cover.
Mail order requests must be sent to the Postmaster no later than September 11. Customers with questions about the postmark can contact Postmaster Martinez at 732-549-5511.
