Edison, NJ –  Local authorities are advising residents of Heat Advisory in effect until 07:00 p.m. this evening.The National Weather Service  has issued a Heat Advisory,  based on heat index values that will reach approximately 100 due to temperatures in the lower 90s.  

According to the National Weather Service, the heat index values will peak between about 1 PM and 5 PM today.  

The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

The National Weather Service is reminding individuals to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, and individuals exhibiting signs and symptoms should call 911.
