EDISON, NJ - A 65-year-old Old Bridge man died Monday after apparently suffering a heart attack while driving on Oak Tree Road, causing his SUV to collide with other vehicles, police said.
Motorist David Rose was taken to JFK Medical Center in Edison where he was pronounced dead following the 11 a.m. accident, police said.
Police said Rose was driving west on Oak Tree Road, near Minebrook and Cinder roads, when witnesses said, he lost control of his Hyundai Santa Fe, apparently due to a “medical emergency.” His vehicle veered into the eastbound lanes striking three other cars, police said.
Firefighters removed Rose from his SUV and EMS workers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene, before rushing him to the nearby hospital, police said.
Another driver complained of shoulder pain at the scene, but police said that motorist was not taken to the hospital.
