EDISON, NJ – The Edison Police announced that they arrested a 27 year old man who they say caused a ruckus at a pool hall, a hotel lobby, and allegedly smashed the glass front doors at a Pep Boy auto parts store on Old Post Road.
Edward J. Connors was arrested, in the lobby of the Comfort Inn on Route 1 early Wednesday morning, less than 30 minutes after officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress at the Pep Boys store, 518 Old Post Road, police said.
The incident began at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday when officers, dispatched for a burglary at the Pep Boys store, found its glass front doors smash.
Officer Joseph DePasquale made the arrest.
Mr. Connors is now in the Middlesex County jail facing charges of burglary, criminal mischief, possession of and being under the influence of controlled dangerous substances.
Police also said Mr. Connors was wanted on three outstanding warrants from municipal courts Edison and New Brunswick.
Employees from Elite Billiards, also on Old Post Road, told police that a disorderly patron may have cause damage at the auto parts store and they gave officers exterior surveillance videos showing a man carrying a red fire extinguisher minutes before damage was done to the auto parts store, Lt. Robert Dudash said.
While investigating the break-in, police received complaints about an unruly guest in the lobby of a nearby Comfort Inn on Route 1.
Minutes later, Officer DePasquale found and arrested Connors, who was in the lobby’s refreshment area, disheveled and bleeding from his forehead and hands, Lt. Dudash said.
EMTs treated Connors for his injuries at the scene, but he refused to be hospitalized for further examination or treatment, police said.
