Edison Police Probe Party Shootings Early Friday


EDISON, NJ - Edison Township police detectives are continuing to nvestigate an early morning shooting Friday that left two young men wounded. The victims were attending a Halloween Party in the Raritan Center hotel’s banquet hall when the incident occurred.

The gunshot victims – a 21-year-old Newark man who was shot in his arm and abdomen and a 20-year-old East Orange man shot in his leg – were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick to be treated for the what police described as "serious, but non-life threatening injuries."

Police officers were dispatched to the E Hotel Banquet & Conference Center at 12:42 a.m. for reports of disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found a number of party guests fleeing the hotel’s banquet hall on foot and in cars. Police found more guests still inside, some arguing and brawling, police said.

Officers found the two gunshot victims inside a car that was stuck in traffic as it tried to leave the hotel’s parking area.

Witnesses and guests told police that the hotel’s banquet hall was booked for a private Halloween Party for various social service/professional fraternal groups.

Edison police detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident and seeking suspects involved in the shootings. Anyone with information about the incident may contact the Edison Police Department at (732) 248-7400.

Nearly $900K Bid Received for Construction of New New Brunswick Park

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Only one company submitted a bid to build a new city park on land where three abandoned houses once stood.

A-Tech Concrete of Edison submitted a bid of $897,316.25 to construct a park on Welton Street, near Drift Street.
