Monroe, NJ - The Edison High School Cross Country Team had a strong presence in Mondays Red Division Championship race at Thompson Park in Monroe.  Success came despite exceptionally harsh weather conditions. Temperatures reached the 90s which presented a significant challenge for all of the athletes who competed in the race.

The Eagles were led by senior Captain Amaresh Chittigidde and Junior Captain Micah White.  Chittigidde finished in 10th place overall with a time of 17:46.  He was closely followed by White who finished with a time of 18:07.  Both runners earned very strong times for this early in the season.  The boys finished as a team in 5th place.

Head Coach Obryan Cartagena was complimentary of both teams performances.  “This was a good way to start the season.  Especially because this is only our second 5k.  We are looking to get better every week.”

Assistant coaches Tom White and Patrick McCaffery attribute this year’s improvement to the athletes commitment to summer training and “buying in” to the training system.

The Eagles will be running again this Saturday in Jackson at the “6 Flags Invitational”.
