SOMERVILLE, NJ - The Immaculata High School Spartans beat Holy Cross 55-27 in the first round of the state football playoffs held at Brooks Field Saturday night, 

Jordan Kinsler's 35-yard touchdown run led the Spartans to an early lead, but the Lancers answered back to tie in the first quarter. Patrick Frauenheim had his signature all over the second quarter, scoring two touchdowns with a 15-yard run and a 5-yard run and connecting with Matt DiPietro for a 37-yard touchdown pass.

Zach Helleis had four extra points.

Two powerful runs and a one-yard plunge put the Spartans ahead for good in the second half. Kinsler had an 85-yard run and Donnie Rivera pushed the ball over the line, resulting in two Spartan touchdowns.

Pelton Esannason scored another touchdown on a 99-yard kickoff return.

The Lancers put 20 more points on the board, but it wasn't enough.

Kinsler scored the final touchdown for the Spartans.

The Spartans now move onto the second round of the States with date and location to be announced.
