2017 Susan G. Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure Set for May 21

JERSEY CITY, NJ - Nearly 2,000 people are expected when the 2017 Susan G. Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure is held at Liberty State Park in Jersey City on Sunday, May 21.

The race is partially sponsored by TAPinto.net.

The Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure’s official Master of Ceremonies will be WABC-TV Eyewitness News reporter Anthony Johnson, who has been a member of the the Eyewitness News team since 2001.
Patty Steele, co-host of WCBS-FM’s morning show “The Big Show with Scott Shannon and Patty Steele,” will serve as this year’s Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure Honorary Survivor Ambassador. A Montclair resident and a three-year breast cancer survivor, Steele, who went public with her diagnosis on-air, is an advocate and spokesperson for the fight against breast cancer.

Main events and activities include Official USATF Timed 5K Run, a 5K Walk, a 1.5 Mile Fun Walk, and a Kids for the Cure Color Run sponsored by Medieval Times. For the younger set, the knights from the Lyndhurst Castle of Medieval Times (along the King and Princess and their heralding trumpeters) will be marching into the Kid’s Zone with a live jousting tournament.

Participants can capture the day with a free photo at the Komen Moment Photo Tent (sponsored by TAPinto.net), complete with pink carpet, stanchions, pink ropes and a Komen-branded backdrop.

Scott, executive vice-president of the Office of Health Care Transformation at RWJBarnabas Health and president and chief executive officer of Jersey City Medical Center. “RWJBarnabas Health is proud to support an organization that consistently strives to combat breast cancer, educate families and empower survivors. We invite you to bring your family to Liberty State Park and join us for this important cause.”
