‘Bestfield’ School Supply Collection in Downtown Westfield to Benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County

WESTFIELD, NJ — From now until Sept. 14, Athleta and The Town Book Store in Downtown Westfield are collecting school supplies for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County, whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

“The mission of the ‘Bestfield’ initiative is to be the change we wish to see in the world," Westfield Chief Spirit Officer Meaghan Murphy said. “Every child deserves to go back to school with the basic supplies they need to succeed. We as a community have to power to make that happen.”

The collection will end with a “Bestfield” event at Athleta on the 14th featuring a book signing by Laurie Gelman, author of the bestselling book “Class Mom.” Attendees are encouraged to bring a backpack filled with school supplies to donate.

“We are delighted to partner with Bestfield, Athleta and The Town Book Store to provide our members with backpacks and school supplies,” said Lisa Sepetjian, director of development and marketing for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County. “Thank you for making sure our members have the supplies they need to succeed in school.”

Supplies needed include:

  • Pencil crayons
  • Colored pencils
  • Hard plastic pencil cases
  • Glue sticks
  • Spiral-bound notebooks
  • Packets of tissues
  • Washable felt markers
  • Composition books and notebooks
  • #2 pencils
  • Wide-ruled loose leaf paper
  • Staplers
  • Pink erasers
  • Pocket folders
  • Rulers
  • Smocks
  • Soft plastic binders
  • Fiskars scissors
  • Highlighter pens

The Town Book Store is located at 270 East Broad St. Athleta is located at 234 East Broad St.
