ROSELLE, NJ - Elizabeth firefighters were called in to battle a fire that broke out on the 200 block of Thompson Ave. around 4:15 p.m. on New Years Day. The home a 2.5 story wood frame was found with heavy fire and smoke when firemen arrived at the scene. 

In addition to the Elizabeth Fire Department, engines from Garwood, Kenilworth and Roselle Park help cover. 

According to Mayor Dansereau who was also at the scene said, the two families who reside in the home where in the house when the fire broke out and everyone escaped without injury. She also said that the Red Cross will be notified. 

The fire was brought under control at approx. 5 p.m. It is still unknown the cause of the fire at this time.
