Breast Cancer Awareness Week at Mother Seton High School

Mother Seton students are making Breast Cancer Awareness week ‘count’ with a very special project designed to raise money for breast cancer research.

Benefactors of the school have made generous donations of PINK items to fill a “Think Pink” gift basket. In addition to the basket, a hand-crocheted pink ribbon motif afghan and an Apple watch were donated. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to purchase tickets for a chance to win these PINK PRIZES!

Sister Jacquelyn Balasia, one of the principals at the all-girls high school said, “It’s an honor for our school and our girls to participate in this national initiative in order to raise awareness. Part of our mission is to support health issues, especially those that affect women.”

A Pink Tree of Life stands in the school’s rotunda, decorated with lights and pink ribbons. The tree invites visitors, staff and students of the school to honor someone they know who is battling breast cancer or has lost her fight. As each pink ribbon is hung, a memory or a prayer is shared.

The Mother Seton community bears witness to the fact that the women who continue to battle this horrific disease, along with those who have lost their fight, do not battle alone.
