ELIZABETH, NJ – Elizabeth is racking up the awards this year with three schools, plus the City of Elizabeth, named as 2016 winners in the NJ Safe Routes to School (SRTS), recognition program. 

Juan Pablo Duarte-Jose Julian Marti School 28 is a Gold Recognition winner and Madison-Monroe School 16, and the City of Elizabeth received First Step Recognition for ensuring that walking or bicycling is a priority.

This year, the SRTS program boasts 160 winners in all — 141 winners for the school recognition program, and 19 for the municipality recognition program.

SRTS Regional Coordinators from Transportation Management Associations across New Jersey will be honoring and awarding NJ Safe Routes to School Recognition Program winners either at their annual awards meetings or at a special ceremony.
