Columbus Day Flag Raising Takes Place October 7

ELIZABETH, NJ – The Eighth Annual Columbus Day Flag Raising will take place this Friday, October 7, at 1 p.m., on the steps of the Union County Courthouse.

The event, which is sponsored by the Union County Freeholders and UNICO District X, will feature State Senator Nicholas Scutari as the keynote speaker. The senator,who represent the 22 District in Union County, is head of the Senate Judiciary Committee and a former freeholder.

Other speakers include Filomena Coccaro, the owner of Ciao Amici, the Italian Language and Cultural Center in Cranford; Freeholder Al Mirabella, who is emceeing the event, and members of the freeholder board  and UNICO leaders.

The Union County Courthouse is located at 2 Broad Street at the corner of Rahway Avenue.
