ELIZABETH, NJ – The Samet family has added a second Elizabeth eatery when they officially opened El Buen Café with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, Feb. 28.
Located at 13 Centre Street, this charming, little bistro has a huge menu offering homemade empanadas, potato balls, rice, as well as a variety of sandwiches and paninis including such as favorites as tuna melts, B.L.T.s, and Cuban sandwiches. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch and closes at 5:30 p.m. El Buen offers free delivery.
Brenda Samet, who owns the Rankin Street Deli, opened the new place for her 20-year-old son, Jonathan, who likes to cook. “He was always interested in cooking, always in the kitchen,” remembered Samet. “He is going to make a good husband someday.”
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Samet family was helped by Mayor Bollwage, Councilman Carlos Torres, Elizabeth Avenue Partnership Executive Director Dave Strochak, and EAP board member Dana Lemonova.
