ELIZABETH, N.J.-- A 90-year-old Elizabeth man was killed in a fire early Monday in the city that left three homes damaged, authorities said. 

Around 1:19 a.m. firefighters were called to the 600 block of Marshall Street and arrived to find the first floor of the home was engulfed in flames according to officials.

The fire spread to the upper two floors of the multi-story residence and two adjacent homes before being brought under control at about 3:30 a.m. according to an Elizabeth fire official.

Searchers found the victim on the first floor.

Firefighters are still on the scene cleaning up and the fire remains under investigation Monday morning.
