NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for northeastern New Jersey in effect from midnight, Feb. 8, to 6 p.m. the next day.

According to the National Weather Service bulletin, “Winter Storm Warning for Heavy Snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra, flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.”

Temperatures will likely fall into the 20’s. Accumulations of six to 10 inches or higher are expected with winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts of 35 to 40 mph. Visibility predicted to be reduced to one-quarter mile or less.

NWS warns of hazardous travel due to snow covered roads and poor visibilities. Blowing and drifting snows is likely. Power outages and downed trees are possible.
