ELIZABETH, NJ — Mayor Chris Bollwage celebrated the grand opening of Miller Playground in the 5th Ward.

The playground has two large jungle gyms with slides, a splash park, a basketball court and outdoor exercise equipment. Miller also has the City’s first city-wide outdoor volleyball court.

“Probably the largest new playground we’ve done in our administration,” said Mayor Bollwage of the project.

The playground will have staff on location to enforce the Governor- and CDC-recommended social distancing guidelines. Frequently touched surfaces like swing sets, monkey bars and outdoor exercise equipment will also be cleaned every morning and evening.

“We had so many dedicated people behind this project,” said Councilman Bill Gallman (5th Ward)

Miller Playground will begin participating in the City of Elizabeth free lunch program for kids starting July 6.
