ELIZABETH, NJ – For 250 years Boxwood Hall has been a silent witness to American history. This weekend, the house at 1073 East Jersey is telling its story, free-to-the-public as part of the Annual Four Centuries in a Weekend, October 15-16.

On Saturday, after touring the home, visitors can get a one-hour tour, with at 1 p.m. or 3 p.m., of the First Presbyterian Church, historic burial grounds, and The Snyder Academy where Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr were school boys.

And the British are coming back, but this time their guns aren’t loaded.  On Saturday, from noon to 3 p.m., there will be a re-enactment of the 1780 Battle of Elizabethtown, hosted by The Snyder Academy, on the grounds of the First Presbyterian Church. The event is organized by the Historic Midtown Elizabeth Special Improvement District
