ELIZABETH, NJ - Although the day started out dark and dreary, the sun shone brightly and the clouds gave way just as the parade started its route from Elizabeth City Hall. Winding its way down Elizabeth Avenue to Broad Street and ending at the end on Morris Avenue for continued festivities.
Several dignitaries walked in the parade including City of Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage and Union County Freeholders Angel Estrada and Sergio Granados, along with parade organizers and leaders in the Columbian community.
Thousands lined the parade route as the sounds of Columbia were presented through speakers on floats, which carried several different local organizations. There were also several dance groups and the Elizabeth High School Marching Band. Beautiful dancers in bright clothing, classic cars, and two types of bikers, some on bicycles adorned with flags and the kind with horsepower, about 50 members of the PARCEROS motorcycle cub. And, last but certainly not least, were 20 riders on top of horses. The horses enjoyed the music too as many of them were prancing in the road.
