ELIZABETH, NJ – A car accident that resulted in a fatality tied up the 1100 block of Jefferson Avenue, March 3, involving several vehicles and requiring PSE&G to be called in.

According to eye witness Joseph Cosenza, who works in the area, office workers heard a loud bang and looked to see a man in his 60’s struggling to get out of the car as flames shot up underneath. "They think he might have had a seizure," said Cosenza.

The unidentified driver apparently hit a gate in front of the Upright warehouse that knocked into an electric pole. A utility truck and pickup truck were both heavily involved.  

Elizabeth Fire Department Special Operations responded as did Union County Fire Chief. PSE&G was notified because r a transformer on the ground and a utility pole were involved
