UNION COUNTY - Residents seeking a position on their local school board must file their candidate petitions by July 25, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. in the Office of the Union County Clerk, Elections Division, 2 Broad Street, Room 113, Elizabeth, New Jersey, reminds County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi.
Each petition must have 10 valid signatures.
“Candidates still have ample time to file, but with summer vacations under way the days can slip by quickly,” said Rajoppi. “If you would like to be on the ballot this November, please ensure that you file in time.”
Except for Plainfield and Summit, every municipality in Union County holds school board elections concurrent with the General Election in November. Plainfield school board elections are held in April. The school board in Summit is appointed by the mayor. School Board positions have a three-year term.
