ELIZABETH, NJ – November 5 was the perfect day for a friendly game of soccer, and one was played between the city’s police and firefighters teams in the first Battle of the Badges Soccer Game.

Hundreds show up with folding chairs, got comfortable, and were ready to cheer on their favorite team at this charity event to benefit the YWCA of Easter Union County, which provides a refuge and programs for women who are victims of domestic violence, along with other services.

The firefighters were victorious with a final score of 3-2, played on the field at Dr. Orlando Edreira Academy School 26 on Westminster Avenue.

While the YWCA was the beneficiary, the firefighters may have gained something just as valuable – bragging rights.
